Showing 1-5 of 7 (next | show all) A good book for fans of the word 'lustre' or the phrase 'ho, what'. Not so good a book for people who aren't comfortable with detailed and prolonged sexual descriptions of girls (well, one girl in particular) aged about 13 upwards. An interesting plot, which I did enjoy, and well-written but, like I say, some aspects were uncomfortable to read. But that's fantasy apparently: women tend to not exist or to exist largely as sexual elements in stories like these, and I hate to say RA Salvatore has disappointingly followed this trend. ( ) FionaLiddle | May 31, 2016 | A sword and sorcery tale of demon trying to destroy the world leading to adventurers banding together to stop him. Pretty typical fantasy story, but it keeps it interesting. There are three main characters that are all excellent in their own way. The story is heavy on the action, but still includes plenty of character growth, mystery, and romance. It's a fun story with an interesting world. I listened to it through Graphic Audio, which includes many different sound effects, background music, and each character is narrated by a different person. It probably made the action sequences more exciting, but I only read it this way so am unsure. The only problem with Graphic Audio is sometimes the sound effects are louder than the narration. ( ) renbedell | May 6, 2016 | Yay I am so glad to have found this. I have heard so much about Salvatore over the years, but just have not had the time or resources for the series. So this will be my very first read with Salvatore. I will let you know what I think, so the review to come. Interesting. I wasn't expecting this to start with two preteens. I was expecting the scary demon. I think I was expecting late teens to be the heroes. Maybe this will have several plots that eventually intertwine. I'll have to get back to you on that one. Yes they eventually intertwine with the plotlines. now it makes sense. Three that I am instantly reminded of God's Trubidore(sp?), The Book of Three, and The Merchant of Death. Now at the end of it all. I have to say that it feels a bit incomplete, but it is a saga so it should be understandable. I don't suppose any out there have the same problem I do with a meddling mother, a husband who acts like a child, and two abnormally smart children? Why can't my day turn out normal so I can just effing read!?! ( ) wickedshizuku | May 12, 2014 | I liked the start of this series. Its a unique world with a dfferent magic system. Salvatore does a good job starting things off with this book. The characters are interesting, and his plot moves along at a fast pace. Good stuff. ( ) Karlstar | Jan 19, 2013 | As the world is corrupted and evil, a demon awakens in the distant mountain of Aida born of lava. A ranger trained by elves, a monk who has learned the magical arts of precious stones, a warrior girl and a centaur venture out to fight this demon and this is their story. The book is fast paced but we don't relate to or pity any charecters. Last month I read 20 books and 2 pieces of shorter fiction. I listened to an audiobook, too. Left 4 dead 3 free pc game full version free. Obviously, that’s more than I am going to post about all at once, so I’ll start with the easy ones.
The audiobook was the third book in the Demon Wars Saga by R.A. Salvatore, . Each of these books is done in three parts, with 5-6 hours of audio per part, so this constitutes a serious investment of time. But they are worth it. This one didn’t end the way I would have liked – or any way that I might have been able to tolerate, but my son was quick to point out that Salvatore is not known for his happy endings. The story was wonderful and the audio production flawless. (They are done by Graphic Audio. Unfortunately, they are no longer available from them. I got mine as part of a Humble Bundle.) I still have a lot of this series to go, but I will definitely be reading Salvatore after I am done with these. Unfortunately, his ebooks are as expensive as paperbacks, so I will probably just try to dig out my son’s old copies. They are around here somewhere!
I read two pieces of short fiction:
- Vampire Dead-tective #1 by Mac Flynn
- A Gift of Shadow by Nick Webb
I know that I do not really enjoy short stories very much because they are short and it is hard to write good ones, but these were a little longer than short stories and I had hopes. But I was disappointed. Vampire Dead-tective #1had an interesting premise: a bond between a human and a vampire as long as the human is wearing a ring. I didn’t like the characters very much, and that made it difficult to get into the story. Maybe the other installments (There are 5; this one was 83 pages, so all together they are a longish novel.) would change that for me, but I am not counting on it. Also, the writing was filled with cliches. It seemed like laziness more than a conscious decision to include them. This book was OK since it was free on Amazon, but I won’t shell out $2.99 for any of the other installments.
A Gift of Shadows was part of a 15 book set I got through Kobo that is no longer available. I cannot find any evidence of Nick Webb writing a series that this would fit into. The story was good but too short. I assumed it was like a prologue to a series, so I was OK with that. But now that I can’t find the series, I am a little disappointed. I found The Maskmaker’s Apprentice by Endi Webb (who looks just like Nick Webb!), and so I guess that is what is leads into.
I read three historical novels:
- Adventures of Cash Laramie and Gideon Miles, Vol. IIby Edward A. Grainger
- The Good Knight by Sarah Woodbury
- Soldier’s Heart by Michele McKnight Baker

I didn’t like this Cash Laramie as much as the first one I read, but it was still good. I really liked the interplay between Laramie and Miles in the first one, and this book didn’t feature Miles nearly as much. Outlast 2 free pc.
The Good Knight was a “Medieval Mystery” that kept me interested and taught me a lot about the times. I really enjoyed it. Edwardian script itc free mac. The mystery was good, and the characters were engaging. I hope to read more of this series.
Demon Wars Saga Graphic Audio Book
Sonny with a chance snack cart a pult game download. I read Soldier’s Heart by Gary Paulsen some years ago, and at first that was a problem for me with this book. But this Soldier’s Heart is every bit as good in its own way. I struggled with the connection between soldier’s heart and this story for a long time because the book is more about the families of the soldiers than the soldiers themselves. But the families became people I cared about. The story is based on fact and written by a descendant of the families in question, so that makes it even more interesting to me. If you like Civil War stories that aren’t all about the killing, this is the book for you!
Fallout 4 lingerie mod. OK… That’s all for now. I’ll be back later with more!
